| ACFA Statement on National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center of Thailand |
ACFA appreciates that Thai scientists have been working very hard to realize the synchrotron radiation project in Thailand after the feasibility study mission on synchrotron radiation of Thailand to China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan in 1993.
Now, ACFA is pleased to know that the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Project, which will acquire the synchrotron radiation facility of SORTEC from Japan, has been approved by the Government of Thailand on March 5, 1996. ACFA appreciates the great efforts of the Thai Government and related Organization in supporting the Thai project. This will not only contribute to the advancement of science and technology in Thailand but also will help pushing Thailand as an active member in the international advanced science and technology community.
Since ACFA encourages regional cooperation in accelerator sciences in general thus we would like to recommend that the Thai synchrotron project should also contribute to the promotion of science and technology of Southeast Asia region. ACFA will support regional cooperation and/or contribution through the Thai project.
ACFA looks forward to the day when the Thai Synchrotron Radiation Facility can begin operation.
